The UAE and broader GCC region present a unique challenge for children’s clothing: extreme outdoor heat alongside heavily air-conditioned indoor environments. A child can move from 42°C outside to 20°C inside within minutes.
This means layering is essential — but it must be done thoughtfully. Lightweight base layers that breathe in the heat, paired with soft cardigans or wraps for indoor cooling, form the ideal wardrobe framework for Gulf families.
We also prioritise light colours and loose silhouettes in our warm-weather pieces, which reflect heat and allow air circulation rather than trapping it against a child’s skin.
Humidity and Fabric Behaviour
Coastal cities like Dubai and Abu Dhabi combine heat with humidity for much of the year. In humid conditions, synthetic fabrics trap moisture and heat against the skin, creating the ideal conditions for rashes and discomfort.
Natural fibres — particularly cotton and bamboo — wick moisture away from the skin and allow it to evaporate, keeping a child cooler and drier even in humid conditions.
